But Different.

It's been a while since last I posted here. Real life's been taking over, and what little time I have left after everything else is thoroughly consumed by NS and IRC. And it's not as if anything real interesting has been going on. Except yesterday.

Midterms have started, as they always do. And, as always, teachers see fit to give loads of work to coincide with said midterms. Take, for example, yesterday, which was when the CCNA 1 midterms are. For those who have not taken CCNA 1, it's a Cisco Systems course that teaches you how to make networks. NATs, DHCPs, subnets, all that good stuff. It's a fairly involved course (compounded with the fact that Cisco Systems attempts to make its material as incomprehensible as possible- probably so that people who get certified can look smarter than they already are), so for said midterm, it would be preferrable to study. And one would think- or at the very least hope- that others would be considerate enough not to assign work on the same day. One would be wrong.

The night before the test, we were assigned an essay due the next day. And not a small essay, either- this was a 12-page, several hour feat. And a few worksheets for Chemistry to boot. While this, in and of itself, would be no problem at all, there's also the little consideration that the midterm is sitting there, waiting to be studied for. And I was hoping I would be able to sleep that night.

In the end, of course, I did manage to finish the work, and the midterm was rather easy, so a fairly anticlimactic end. The experience, if nothing else, left me this gem of a quote from the CCNA text.

"In other words, routing protocols enable routers to route routed protocols."

Glad that was cleared up for me.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://usftiburongov.blogspot.com/2006/01/like-breadcrumbs-but-different.html' title='Like Breadcrumbs. It happened again. You know the whole North American ditty that Allanea caused? No? Lucky you.

The whole incident- which I'm quite glad to have put behind me- is all up there. Including my response.

Quite glad? Well, not exactly. See, this represents something in itself- the second time in a row he's managed to complain his way out of a perfectly good and rational ignore. I'm not sure why I do it, but it always seems to be working. I suppose something inside me keeps on telling me, "Just one more chance, come on. I know it can happen this time. He can be a fully integrated member of the NS community proper. Yeah, I shouldn't, but it just happens.

Besides, he gets waaaaay too much flak for his faults, in my opinion. We all have faults. Get used to it.

I know, I know. Don't say it. You're probably going to in that nice little comments section down there anyway, but I asked for you not to.

Purpose

So. First post. Is it really true? Have I joined the web logging masses? Does this game have so much control over me as for me to an entire blog on general whining about one game? No, no, and no. It's simply a collection of texts that are related to the game. It's, in essence, a server intended to store my NS-related stuff. From time to time, you may see some bitching going on... cherish it. It won't come often here. Or so I hope.

Yeah. Not great for a first post, but it's not a blog as much it is an index.
